A new feature at the Festival this year is the Repco Power Cruise the Loop on Thursday 23rd March and we are giving away $5000 cash to a participant. Due to the closure of SH25a we are unable to safely travel to Thames in a large convoy which is bitterly disappointing as it’s a great drive and location.

Instead we are encouraging entrants to visit other towns around the Coromandel Peninsula loop at their own leisure. This takes pressure off the roads and other road users. Each town has put together a “package” to entice entrants to visit and we’ll be sharing these with you over the coming days, and also hand out to entrants on the day.

Entrants will need to check into the Ford Reserve as usual between 8am – 10am where our Crew will give each vehicle one of these souvenir swing tags that has an electronic chip. Entrants will also receive flyers for each town so they can decide where they will spend the day and keep a receipt of a purchase made from a town outside of Whangamata on the Loop. When the vehicle departs the Check In area the chip will record the departure time.

Entrants must return to the Ford Reserve between 2-4pm on Thur 23rd March with their Repco Power Cruise the Loop swing tag to Check Out and stop their individual timer. THIS IS NOT A RACE.

On Friday 24th March at the Castrol Edge Thundercruise prize giving we will draw a random time from those who participated and the closest time will win $5000 – however the entrant MUST be present at the draw and produce the Repco Power Cruise the Loop swing tag & receipt of a purchase made from 1 of the towns.

This is a world first for an event like this – How cool is that???!!!

We’ve driven the roads as far as Coromandel town several times recently and it is safe to do so but there may be some stop/go areas along the way. It’s a beautiful drive!
